20 Essential Poses Pt 2
Today most people equate asana with Yoga. Asana or poses is only one of the tools of Yoga. In fact, it is the most gross(versus subtle) tool used in yoga. The more subtle the yoga tool, the more profound the practice. Krishnamacharya learned thousands of asanas from his teacher, Rammohan Brahmachari, during his 7 year tutelage at the base of the Himalayas. Krishnamacharya then taught hundreds of asanas to his student/son Desikachar. Desikachar’s son, Kaustub, recorded many of these asanas with his grandfather and published them in the book, Heart of Asana. We will be experiencing and studying the first 20 classical essential asanas using the Heart of Asana as a reference. Within this study we will reinforce the entire system of Asana practice, how it relates to the Prana, Agni, Mala, and will gracefully reveal the beginning of intelligent sequencing. This is an amazing 2 weekend journey.
